Buffy kills a vampire who is a member of the Order of Aurelius, the presence of this creature alerts Giles to The Master's plan of raising the Anointed One.

Buffys interests turn to dating as Owen Thurman shows an interest whilst talking to her in the Library.

Giles chooses to persue the prophecy about the Anointed One without waiting for Buffy who has gone out on a date with Owen to the Bronze.

The date at the Bronze is cut short by first Angel and then Willow and Xander who turn up to tell her about Giles being trapped in the funeral home whilst investigating.

Buffy finds the vampire who they beleive is the annointed, but Owen who decided to follow them gets in the way and is knocked unconciouss. This causes Buffy to throw the vampire into the furnace in a fit of rage fearing that Owen has been killed.

Owen regains conciousness and the next day asks Buffy out again because he found the danger exciting. Buffy chooses to decline the offer as she does not want to be liked for the danger, but for who she actually is.
